Yogurt Breakfast Bowls

AE-Yogurt-Bowls-Almond
Yogurt Breakfast Bowls are a quick and easy breakfast idea for the whole family. Quick and easy, yet nutritious breakfast staples aren’t always easy to come by. My kids get in a breakfast rut occasionally and eat the same thing for days at a time. Yogurt Breakfast Bowls are one of their favorite things to create in the kitchen. They are a delicious treat that nourishes their active bodies with plenty of protein, calcium, vitamin D and more!

AE Whole Milk Yogurt is the base of this recipe and there are several flavors (Raspberry, Sweet Cream, Boysenberry, Cocoa Hazelnut, Strawberry, Banana Custard), but this girl loves the Almond Cream! I add a medley of fruits, granola, whole pecans and honey to my bowl and the kids tend to do the same. Making sure my kids get a decent breakfast is the one thing I can do to get them a great start to their day.

I’ve been at home with both of my children since my daughter was born in 2008. This year marks a first for me as I’ll send my little boy to kindergarten. He’s quite excited, stating he’s looking forward to recess, playtime and lunch! Once they go to school I have quite a few work commitments that will keep me quite busy until the proverbial wheels fall off and harvest time is here. I’m not quite sure that my little guy understands that he won’t be able skip school to ride with Mom in the tractor and Grandpa in combine. I am sure there will be an adjustment period but I hope it goes quickly.

When you make these Yogurt Breakfast Bowls try different varieties of AE Whole Milk Yogurt alongside different fruits, nuts and granola varieties. I like to think about the ingredients I’m arranging in each breakfast bowl to achieve optimum flavor. Make sure you have:
Something Creamy: AE Whole Milk Yogurt is all you’ll need here!
Something Crunchy: I like granola, shredded wheat squares, crunchy cereal, etc.
Something Sweet: Sometimes the fruit I add is quite sweet like blueberries, ripe kiwi, bananas, sweet cherries etc. If you have lots of tart fruits, a squeeze of honey balances that out nicely!
Something Nutty: Adding nuts to your breakfast bowl gives extra crunch and delicious earthy richness, don’t leave them out!
Something Tart: Something bright and acidic like raspberries, sectioned tangerines, slivers of Granny Smith apples will enhance the rest of the sweet and rich flavors.

Try these ideas for your next Yogurt Breakfast Bowl:

AE Sweet Cream Whole Milk Yogurt + blueberries + raspberries + kiwi slices + chia seeds + sesame seeds + chopped cashews and almonds.
AE Boysenberry Whole Milk Yogurt + bananas + blueberries + blackberries + strawberries + granola + honey + sesame seeds + chopped pecans
AE Banana Custard Whole Milk Yogurt + sliced bananas + vanilla wafer cookies + sliced almonds + honey
